Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

          The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. It has tried to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by offering high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Indira Gandhi National Open University is known as the Peoples University has been established in 1985. The university stands to expand the opportunities of quality in higher education and making it accessible to all the people. Indira Gandhi National Open University Delhi has a broad network of more than 70 regional centers and 3000 plus study centers all over India. Over the years, IGNOU has lived up to the country’s expectations of providing education to the marginalized sections of society. Free of cost education is being provided to all jail inmates across the country. A large number of SC/ST students have been admitted to various programmes of the University. IGNOU Study Centre 1610, Vivekanand Arts, S.D.Commerce and Science College, Samarthnagar, Aurangabad is one among them who received IGNOU’s ‘Best Study Centre Award’ for the year 2016-2017.

          IGNOU Study Centre 1610, Vivekanand Arts, S.D.Commerce and Science College, Samarthnagar, Aurangabad has established in 1989. The study centre comes under the Regional Centre, Pune. Dr. Nagnath Totawad is acting as a Co-ordinator of the study centre 1610. And Dr. M.S.Wankhade is acting as an Assistant Coordinator. Mr. A.D.Dhakne, Mr.R.S.Wankhade and Mr. V.R. Bobade are working as assistants at the study centre.

          The university runs various programs for the learners. The admission and Examination process runs twice in a year, admission in July session and January session and Examinations in June and December month respectively. The curriculum includes Master degree programs like MCA, MBA, MA (English, Hindi, Sociology, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Rural Development, etc.), Post Graduate Diploma Programs like Disaster Management, Rural Development, Women and Gender Studies, Applied Statistics etc, Bachelor degree programs like BPP, BA, B.COM, BSC, BCA, BSW, BTS etc. and Certificate programs in Water Harvesting and Management, Information Technology, Human Rights, Disaster Management and so on.

          The working hours of the Study Centre are 4 to 7 pm (Tuesday to Saturday), 10 to 2 pm (Sunday) and Monday is an official Holiday.
