The Department of English was established in 1971. Initially the Department was limited to the undergraduate level. After the introduction of post graduation in 1996, it widened its reach speedily. Since its inception, the Department has been catering to the various needs of students across all sections of society.
Students from rural areas are the prominent stakeholders of the Department. Apart from the conventional courses, the Department has been actively engaged to impart skill based course of Spoken English not only to the students of the College, but even to the high school students. It has incorporated the use of ICT in terms of its trendy Language Laboratory. The Departmental Library is one of the biggest strengths of the Department.
Moreover, it has been creating interest among students towards literature with the help of its very own campus film club namely Treasuring Images Film society. Two of the faculty members are research guides recognized by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.
