This is the 49th year of the existence of Vivekanand Arts, Sardar Dalipsingh Commerce & Science College, Aurangabad. Founded in 1971, the College is moving briskly pacing forward with the help of advanced infrastructure and scholastic faculty. At the College we firmly believe in providing holistic education to all. While the primary stress is on achieving academic excellence, we also provide various platforms to spur our students to enhance their knowledge and skills in those areas which are believed to be important for personality development. On the whole, our major thrust is to nurture the young minds for their multi-faceted development and of the College too.
The merit of an institution is generally judged on the basis its student's outstanding performance in academics, co and extra-curricular activities. Our students not only excel in the academics but they equally display their flair in cultural and sports activities. The students also show their worth through involvement in N. C. C. and N. S. S.
The College endeavours to keep the students abreast of the latest developments in different areas with a set of add on courses in Computer, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Dairy Science and Technology, Soft Skills, e-Commerce, e-Banking, Archeology, Chemistry and so on. Moreover, the courses on the thoughts of Gandhi and Ambedkar aim at propagating the values of non-violence, peace and equality among the blossoming youngsters. In addition to these courses, we have started a three-month workshop to bolster entrepreneurship development of the students.
Every department has a good number of doctorate teachers having expertise in their respective field. The average teaching experience of most teachers is more than ten years. Besides teaching, these teachers have published a considerable volume of research papers in reputed journals. Apart from the publications, our teachers have completed major and minor research projects funded by the UGC, DST, BIRAC, DBT and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. The work of few projects is still in continuum.
Nearly 10% of the students who joined the College previous years are now receiving Central Government Scholarships. We expect this number to be more than double during the next year. In addition, the College offers the facility of Student Aid Fund to the unprivileged and needy students, more particularly to the visually challenged candidates. These visually challenged students are provided the world class computer laboratory and training facility for their empowerment.
Since we owe much to our society, we have instituted Vivekanand Lecture Series for enlightening the people in and around Aurangabad. Through this Series, we have been offering lectures by eminent stalwarts who have made a distinct mark in different areas. In January, 2020 we had the second Season of the Lecture Series. In the memory of Pandharinath Patil (Bhau) Dhakephalkar, the founder of our College this activity is being organized every year.
